Hall of Fame Profile Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame Profile
3x CH Flatwoods Tiger Tiger was started by his owner and became an AKC Field Champion at 25 Months. At this time he was sent to the Holmans and they campaigned him. He won the ABC Quail and Pheasant Classics, he won the Texas Open Championship and the Mid-South Open All-Age Championship. Probably the most notable contribution of Tiger is his production record. He produced a total of 30 field winners including 11 Field Champions, 2 dogs that placed in the ABC National Championship 2 times, and the 1994 Iams Top Dog of the year, Buddy Boy. Tiger's grand pups are now starting to show their stuff, for example Hybrittin's Flatwood Floozie won the AKC Shooting Dog Championship in 2000-2001. Other are still competing. This record is hard to match.
CH The Magic Moment She was a US Open winner and the winner of 6 ABC Classics. But very important, she produced three hour winners. The first was Shamrock Missouri Magic who was the 1997 Iams Dog of the Year award winner. Her second hour winner was Jerob's Magic Tradewinds. This dog in turn produced The Time Machine, an hour winner, and Breeze County ClYde. Clyde was a major competitor in the 2000-2001 Kasco award and had 3 hour wins. The third hour winner was The Magic Tradewinds of Paducka.
For over 40 years, the Brittany and the ABC have been Ella's whole life. The first thing new people learn about Ella is her unsurpassed encouragement and friendship she shows. Everyone knows Ella and everyone appreciated her help/assistance when they got started in Brittanys. Ella is a diligent worker for the American Brittany Club and for many years she was editor of the ABC magazine, editor of the ABC yearbook, as well as the ABC treasurer. Somehow she combined the ABC work with her love of field trialing. For many years, Ella took off with her dogs and horses and drove all over the country to compete with her dogs, to be a judge, or to be a reporter. She has reported many local club trials plus the ABC Futurities, ABC Classics and the ABC National Championship. She has owned or partly owned and has handled man winning dogs. Ella is a tough competitor! She got Ran-Bo's Royal Rebecca when the dog was middle aged and then she handled the dog to wins in the ABC Pheasant Championship, Illinois Championship, and was recipient of the ABC Women's Handler Trophy. Rebecca was one of the top hour dogs of her time!
Ron Stevenson, one of the founding members of the New England Brittany Championship Association, was a shining example of what a bird dog field trialer should be. Ron was an outgoing, friendly, caring person who dedicated a great part of his life to the betterment of the Brittany and field trials. For over fifty years, Ron was involved as an owner, breeder, trainer, handler, judge, and club official on both the regional and national level. No task was too menial when it came to the sport; he would do whatever was needed, from cutting and hauling brush to preparing and giving a presentation to the state or federal officals; he did it all with class. His kennel, -Rondo Britts - was always well respected and produced many quality (AKC) Dual Champions. (His kennel shared the record for the most Dual Champions ie:5 with HOF Kent Lipsey.) He was not content to be successful with only his own dogs; Ron's contribution to the dogs and the sport involved developing new arenas for dogs, people, and clubs to use for future competition. His support to many New England clubs is well-known but his effort in starting the Northern New England Brittany Club, the New England Brittany Championship Association and the Sharpe's Farm field trial area in New Hampshire were endeavors that improved the future of bird dogs and the sport.
DC Scipio's Little Chick Chicky was bred by Peggy Brooks, owned by Joan Donnell, in the string of Dave Walker and was the consumate bird dog. Her life's main goal was to hunt birds of any kind- pheasant, quail, chukar, etc. She was not biased. Normally a pretty laid back dog like her father, you'd better make sure the door was closed tight or she would slip out and one would spend hours searching to find her somewhere on point. Chicky had five litters from two different sires. From these litters she produced 22 winners with over 285 field placements. She continued to place after her litters, even though she wasn't bred until she was 7 years of age. Her pups have carried on her legacy. Over 80% of her progeny are field winners and of that 80% something over 40% are producing winners into the second and third generations. She also produced for the show ring with 3 Dual Champions, 1 American & Canadian Champion and many others that were pointed but not really campaigned in the ring seriously. It has been said that the quality of the breed was raised a level through her offspring. Chicky finished her show championship in a short 4 month period before graduating to the field, which was her oyster. She placed in the Chukar and Quail Classics as well as being posted 3 times at the National Open. She will always be remembered as the epitome of the Brittany bird dog, first and foremost. Faye (Riddle) Walker
FC/AFC Rimarda's Trademark "TM" was bred in Michigan by Carol Fletcher but began his career in Canada under the ownership of Dave Kerr, was sold to Jim and Janet Chase in 1986 and campaigned by Jim and Chad Holman. He had 62 wins in his career, with 23 hour placements-a brittany record. At the
time of his nomination he had sired 85 winners: 2 Dual Champions, 22 Field Champions, 14
Amateur Field Champions, and 2 Champions. He is sire of 11 hour winners, including
the 1989 National Open Champion, Rimarda's Gambler, who was also Runner-Up in the 1987
National Field Run-Off, the 1994 and 1995 National Gun Dog Champions, FC Hybrittin's Hot
Pursuit and FC Winchester of Hanging Jaze, 2 Sectional Futurity winners and two other
Sectional Futurity placers. Four others of his offspring have place in either the
National Open or He was a five time American Field Champion, won the 1990 IAMS Dog of the Year after being in the top three the previous three years. Since his nomination, one of his offspring, Shamrock's Missouri Magic, has won the IAMS Award. His stamina, intensity on point, sense of humor and laid-back disposition were his "Trademark" and he passed these traits on to his offspring.
FC/AFC Minnehaha's Tammy I believe Minnehaha's Tammy has been nominated for the Field Trial Hall of
Dub Emde If there was ever a person that deserved to be in the, “Field Trial Hall of
Fame,’” it would be Dub Emde. Dub has spent most of his life looking after and
caring for the Lake Murray grounds, at Ardmore, OK. His dedication has been an
act of love---love of the wonderful field trial venue that has been used by all
breeds even though his breed was the Brittany. His efforts didn’t stop with his
devotion to the grounds; he was just as committed to helping each breed that
used the grounds. Dub has been in poor health for several years but he still
managed to get out to the grounds that he has nurtured for so many decades. I
have been involved in the sport for nearly 50 years. I know of no one that has
been so selfless giving to this great sport, and all of this not only without
pay---but much has been given out of his own pocket. I understand that Dub has
taken a turn for the worse. It would be a fitting tribute to Dub it he were
elected to Brittany Hall of Fame ASAP, so he could be notified that what he has
done has not gone without notice.
Loyd Budd He has been involved in Brittanys since the early 60s. During this time he
has mentored new people to the sport as well as new trainers. Mr Budd has had
four National Brittany Champions: Goldtones Duke, Kipp's Trooper Rochambeau, and
Ban-Dee twice. Ban-Dee, being one of the Foundation Sires of today's Brittanys.
